Reel-Making Competition: Breaking Gender Norms

Eligibility:

  1. Participants: Open to all individuals or teams (maximum of 3 members)
  2. Participants must belong to any one of the colleges participating in the project (including ILS Law College) pursuing  either the Five Year (BA.LL.B/BSL.LL.B) or Three Year (LL.B)  Law Program

Reel Requirements:

  1. Theme: The reel must address the broad theme of  “Breaking Gender Norms.”

Sub-themes include:

  • Non-Traditional Careers: Feature individuals pursuing careers traditionally dominated by the opposite gender, such as female pilots or male kindergarten teachers.
  • Challenging Beauty Standards: Address how breaking gender norms can include rejecting traditional beauty standards and embracing diverse forms of beauty.
  • Gender-Neutral Parenting: Explore families that practice gender-neutral parenting and allow children to express themselves freely.
  • Sports and Athletics: Focus on women in male-dominated sports or men in traditionally female-dominated activities like ballet or gymnastics.
  • Fashion Freedom: Celebrate people expressing themselves through fashion without conforming to gender-specific clothing norms.
  • Breaking Emotional Stereotypes: Address the importance of men showing vulnerability and women showing strength, challenging emotional stereotypes.
  • Inclusive Workplaces: Showcase workplaces that promote gender equality and inclusivity, highlighting policies and practices that break gender norms.
  • Everyday Heroes: Tell the stories of everyday people in your community who are breaking gender norms in their daily lives.
  • Media and Representation: Critique and reimagine gender representation in media, including movies, TV shows, and advertisements.
  • Gender and Education: Highlight initiatives and stories that promote gender equality in education, breaking stereotypes about subjects and career paths
  1. Duration: Reels should not exceed 60 seconds
  2. Format: Videos must be in vertical format (9:16 aspect ratio) suitable for platforms like project website, YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, etc.
  3. Language: Reels must be in either Marathi or Hindi
  4. Content: Reels should focus on positive and creative ways of challenging and breaking gender norms. Offensive, vulgar, discriminatory, or inappropriate content or content depicting extreme violence will be outrightly  disqualified.

Submission Guidelines:

  1. Deadline: All entries must be submitted by August 30, 2024
  2. Platform: Reels should be sent on violencenomore@ilslaw.in along with the following details of the participants

Judging Criteria:

  1. Creativity: Originality and creativity in addressing the theme (30%).
  2. Impact: Effectiveness in conveying the message and challenging gender norms (30%).
  3. Quality: Production quality, including visuals, audio, and editing (20%).
  4. Engagement: Number of likes, comments, and shares (20%) (For this purpose, the reels will be shared on the official YouTube channel to determine the likes, shares and comments on the same for the period of 05 days, which will be informed subsequently) https://www.youtube.com/@violencenomore2 )

Prizes:

The Best Three Reels will be awarded a Certificate and a Prize decided by the organizers. Additionally, the best reels will be published on the Website and social media pages of the project.

Rules:

  1. Original Work: All content must be original. Plagiarism or use of copyrighted material without permission will result in disqualification.
  2. Permissions: Participants must have permission from all individuals featured in the reel.
  3. Multiple Entries: Each college may submit more than one entry, but each entry must be unique.
  4. Rights: By submitting an entry, participants grant the organizers the right to use the reel for awareness purposes. The reel will be a part of the open source and no copyright or any other right can be claimed by the creators on it.
  5. Introduction and conclusion: Every reel must contain the project details, the template of which will be shared via Email and WhatsApp to each college. The participants can collect the template from the faculty coordinators of the concerned college and include it in the reel.

By participating, you agree to adhere to these rules and the decisions of the judges, which will be final and binding in all respects.

***Students are requested to not put their life in danger in any manner for preparing these reels. If any mishap / untoward incident happens, the organisers will not be responsible for it***
